Beware of Flip Flops

wal-mart_flip_flops_3.jpgSpend a few extra bucks and don’t buy cheap flip flops this summer.

Products coming out of China are now being recalled due to unsafe materials to make products and keep the budget at a low cost. Look at these chemical burns that began as a skin rash suffered after wearing a pair of Chinese-made flip flops purchased at a local Wal-Mart store in June 2007. The inflammation grew progressively worse over a period of weeks even though the consumer only wore the latex sandals a few times.

Other customers reported similar experiences with the flip flops which are marketed under the “Sand-N-Sun” brand. This spurred Wal-Mart to remove the product from their shelves until complete investigation. On September 11, 2007 Wal-Mart announced it was recalling the flip flops for further testing.

What may be to blame for reaction? There is speculation that the irritation is most likely due to an allergic reaction, either to the latex itself or residue from chemicals used to process the rubber.

A Wal-Mart spokesman told Fox News that out of seven million pairs sold, the company had only received 10 complaints of skin irritation related to the flip flops. However, consumers who have been affected by the product claim they have been contacted by hundreds of people who suffered reactions comparable to theirs.

FREE Premium Listing in Business Directory

I just took advantage of a great opportunity that I think you might like to try as well. I found a free business listing offer and signed my blog up for a premium listing with a Business Directory. Kudzu is a new business search directory that is offering this great opportunity. Signing up was a very simple process to that took less than five minutes and from here I have a lot of options for promoting my site.

This service is typically purchased for $750 per year and I just got a free premium listing that will be good until 2009. This is a totally WIN-WIN offer – absolutely nothing to lose. You don’t have to spend a dime or even provide any financial information to Kudzu.

A service like this should cost hundreds of dollars. I expect my new listing in Kudzu to help with Search Engine Optimization and it is also a great way to generate leads for any related online business.

So, to recap. With my new premium listing at Kudzu, I will:

  • Have higher placement in searches
  • Be able to add photos and video to my listing
  • Be able to add a marketing description to my listing
  • Have Search Engine Optimization benefits from valuable links

Honestly – how can someone pass up an opportunity like this? If you are trying to promote and find traffic for any business or other web site, this is something you have got to do.
