Gorilla Celebrates 55th Birthday
Jenny (the oldest living gorilla in captivity) celebrated her 55th birthday Thursday with a four-layer frozen fruit cake and banana leaf wrapped treats home in the Dallas Zoo.
Zookeepers say she’s having a few joint issues and her eyesight isn’t what it used to be but she still looks good for an old ape.
Violin Virtuoso to Play to Thank Taxi Driver
A violinist plans to treat travelers with the exquisite tones of a 285-year-old violin to give thanks to the cab driver who reunited him with the lost instrument.
Violinist Philippe Quint (nominated for a grammy) said he will play a private 30-minute performance on Tuesday at Newark Liberty International Airport’s cab waiting area as a thank you for having his violin valued at $4 million returned to him.
Hail this Little Hero
11 year old Callum (from Texas) is already considered to be a true hero. This courageous boy has learned that there are many ways people can be seen as heroic.
Callum was injured in a very serious car accident. Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital and has endured rigorous and often painful therapy. Caregivers at the hospital where he receives care were so inspired by Callum’s courage and hard work, that they named him their Hero of the Month. This honor is part of a program created by children’s charity, Kids Wish Network.
Kids Wish Network’s Hero of the Month program was designed to help little heroes who have had to face some of life’s unfortunate experiences.
