Happy Weekend to you! Here are a few GOOD news stories from this past week. Enjoy!
Born last Wednesday by cesarean section, baby “Ai,” (means LOVE) was born to Zhang Xiaoyan, who was rescued from a building after the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan. The mother and her mother were rescued after over 50 hours in a crumbling building. Both survived and the baby was named in honor of the rescuers.
To save a spectacular home a Canadian family is moving this 3,360-square-foot, two-story house from a suburb east of Seattle to Vancouver Island. The former owners bought the house and property for $9.4 million but they only wanted the lot. So they contacted Nickel Bros. House Moving, who listed the home for $335,000 (including the cost of the move).
The house was floated across Lake Washington, then through the Ballard Locks and out through Puget Sound. It crossed the border around noon Wednesday and was expected to arrive at its destination on Thursday.
Doctors successfully separated twin boys joined at the head and said that the 9-month-olds are expected to have a ”very good chance” at a normal life. Doctors at Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital in San Antonio performed the four-hour operation.
The babies may go home in about a week, doctors said. They were also delivered at the same hospital where the surgery was performed. Conjoined twins occur in one out of 200,000 live births, and of those only one in 50 are joined at the head.
