Refugee Doctor ‘Making a Difference’ for Thousands in Burma
Burmese refugee, Dr. Cynthia Maung, runs a small, modest public health clinic near the border in Thailand, and is making a difference in her community by providing essential services not available to most residents of the poor region.
The lines are long as needy refugees queue up to receive care. In the eyes of Thailand’s authorities, these refugees do not even exist. But to Dr. Cynthia Maung, not only do they exist, they matter. Dr. Cynthia is a Burmese physician and also a refugee herself. She is making a difference for thousands of her fellow refugees in Thailand. She has founded the Mae Tao Clinic, which is a safe haven for these refugees.
Dr. Cynthia lives in modest quarters next to the clinic. Obviously, she could have immigrated to the west and have a successful career with a high income. But for Dr. Cynthia, this is a greater success.

Bush Names First Female Four-Star General
For the first time ever a woman has been nominated for promotion to four-star general.
The Pentagon has announced that President Bush has chosen Lt. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody to head the Army Material Command, a division responsible for equipping, outfitting and arming soldiers throughout the Army.
She will be the first woman to attain the rank of a full general if confirmed by the Senate.
Dunwoody is one of two female three-stars in the Army; the other is Lt. Gen. Kathleen Gainey (director of logistics on the Joint Staff).
Dunwoody is currently deputy commander of Army Material Command. Earlier assignments include being commander of Army Combined Arms Support Command and the Army deputy chief of staff for logistics.
234,060 Stop Smoking After the Ban in the UK
Record numbers have quit smoking as a result of the ban on smoking in pubs, clubs and restaurants in the UK.
A leaked report shows 234,060 people quit smoking in the months before and after the law introduced a year ago. This is up 22 percent from the previous year.
This smoking ban is being hailed as the “single most important health measure for a generation” after record numbers gave up the habit last year.
The first anniversary of the smoking ban in England is next week and will be used to publicize its success.

hi there dropping ec here
When I was reading your post about Dr. Cynthia, I am suddenly reminded of a quotation by Mother Theresa, “It is not how much you do, but how much Love you put into the doing that matters.” She definitely put in the greatest order of love - unconditional love.
