Gary - You know...I agree with much of what you wrote...and I don't think you're being paranoid. The "security" that technology like this is supposed to provide seems to be lacking and I have to wonder if we just aren't being given the whole story behind the use of a lot of this surveillance. Your reference to the Nazis is a eye-opener!

Blackzero - I have a hard time understanding how the hotel cameras were able to record the crime, yet the thieves were successful in actually getting away with the truck! What good are the cameras?!?

Hopefully, technology will one day come up with a way to stall the car until the owner can repeat a string of words which will start it when it detects their voice ONLY.

I understand where you are coming from, and the fact that video cameras are already there this shouldn't even be an issue.... but!

What bothers me is that we as a culture are giving away our privacy and liberty for 'security' and that a large amount of people are willing to give up even more liberty to feel more secure (notice I said feel and not actually be).

Even private businesses having security cameras is invasion of privacy, IMO. As for governments, well, it goes a bit further. Do you think the Nazis would have used papers if they had better technology? No, they would have just used microchips and to track down the Jews who wouldn't leave, they would have used the internet and phone taps.

You may think this is just being paranoid, but so did 99% of the Jews in 1937. They were only papers, right?

My company's using Surveillance Cameras as well. And it's been proven pretty useful. Maybe that cam position wasn't proper enough? They might have messed up its angle so it couldn't give perfect picture for the incident.
