Americans are not as sleep-deprived as they think they are. We are actually getting more sleep now that we were a few years ago.
Common perception is that Americans are getting less and less sleep because of increasing workplace demands and the other distractions like internet and TV.
A recent report finds that Americans on average got 59 hours of sleep per week in 2005 and this is three hours more than in 2000. Maybe improved technology like sleep number beds is encouraging better sleep habits?
