Laptop Memory Woes

Posted at 10:48 pm under This and That

If there’s one thing that makes me want to upgrade my current laptop for a new one more than anything else, its memory issues. I have continuous problems with RAM on this laptop (even though I bought more and installed it a few months ago) and my hard drive just isn’t big enough. I have an external drive that I keep transferring files to, but that isn’t exactly the best system, in my opinion.

So…every once in a while…I indulge myself and I do a little “window shopping” online for various components that would be a good replacement for my current laptop. I found some good prices for Apple memory tonight if anyone’s interested!

    Hi!

I read your Post and here is a possible solution for your memory shortage.

    1. Open RUN and type in msconfig
    2. Select tab STARTUP
    3. Click on empty boxes to disable startup programs and TSR (terminate stay resident) programs that wallop a good bit of your RAM whenever you start your Computer.

I am sure you have weighed and considered changing your present laptop hard disk to a larger size. Also increasing your RAM size. These are the best times to take advantage of computer hardware price drops. Prices have never hit lows like it is now in a long, long time.

    Cheers!

Thanks for that reminder, Windmill! It’s been a while since I’ve been in there looking at what is starting automatically. I’m off to prune a bunch of stuff now!

I have had my current laptop for a month. (Hurricane Ike ate the old one) I went with a MacBook Pro with 4 gb of memory and a Time Capsule to keep large projects I’m working on. So far I’ve loved it.
