Action Allstars is Tops for Kids

As a parent of children who enjoy the internet I find that I am almost constantly either supervising someone on the internet or looking for safe pursuits for them on the internet. This in itself can be a full time job with the number of children I have!

This is why I always perk up my ears when I hear about new, fun, safe, AND free virtual games on the internet. Just today I heard all of these adjectives describing this new game at ActionAllStars.com and so I headed right over there.

This has got to be the perfect game for any kid who loves sports. I just happen to have several of those! My almost-ten-year-old boy was the one that came immediately to mind, though. He loves baseball with just about every fiber of his little being, so this was perfect. We set about creating an avatar for him. We settled on a name for his little player:  “Mokkie.” How did we decide on this name, you are wondering? Well…this is the name that our little 2-year-old guy calls his big brother…so we thought it would be a perfect name for the game. Then we created what the character will look like and came up with this:

Isn’t he cute? I thought so!

The game itself was cute, entertaining, challenging (without being too hard), and engaging…not only for my 9 1/2 year old, but for siblings both older and younger as well. This is one of those sites to bookmark and place on the “safe and fun list” for your kids’ internet entertainment!

Action AllStars even has MLB.com and NBA.com as current partners! Two thumbs up here!

Yahoo Will Limit Info on Searches

yahoo_logoIn response to growing concerns from privacy advocates, Yahoo has stated that it will limit the time it holds personally identifiable information related to searches to 90 days.

Yahoo’s new data retention policy is now the most restrictive among the major search engines and is expected to place pressure on Google and MSN to also shorten their information retention times as well.

Previously, Yahoo retained search logs for 13 months.  In September, Google began to remove portions of personally identifiable information related to searches after nine months.  MSN currently retains their information for 18 months.

It is not yet clear whether these privacy protection moves will sway consumers to switch to different search engines.  Last year, Ask.com began a new feature they call AskEraser that allows users to search anonymously.  This new feature reportedly had little effect on Ask.com’s popularity.

Google is the leading search engine commanding 63% of search queries in the US.
