Snowplows Clear Roads for Transplant Patient

Chuck Forbes has liver disease and it was finally his turn for a transplant but a blizzard blocked his route to the hospital. A corps of snowplow drivers saved the day.

After a surprise call that his name was at the top of the transplant list, they began traveling to the hospital. They made it to Wheatland, when they encountered a road-closing barrier. They called 911. After authorities heard the situation, they arranged for a snowplow escort.

“In a matter of 10 minutes, we had a convoy of plow trucks.”

They made it to the hospital and Forbes underwent his transplant the next day.

America’s Best Zoos

zooNatural zoo settings educate visitors on animal life and the environment. The goal should be not to only exhibit animals but to help people understand that zoos are about natural habitats and conservation.

The best zoos are now cageless which results in higher standards for animal and habitat care.

Many of the top zoos are focusing on wildlife and habitat research as well as animal protection. Many zoos offer programs for children, families, and adults to have hands-on encounters with a variety of animals.
