Five Years After Tsunami, Rotary Continues to Help Affected Communities

While we here in America worry about our mortgages and home insurance premiums…perhaps thinking outside the box a little will improve our perspective on life.

It’s been five years since the tsunami on December 26, 2004 that devastated countries surrounding the Indian Ocean. Instantly families were desecrated and lives destroyed.

As the major disaster relief organizations stepped in to help aid and help, Rotary decided to focus on projects addressing rebuilding and recovery. The 62 Rotary clubs in Sri Lanka, where 187 coastal schools were destroyed, raised $12 million to build 25 schools.
