William Blumberg, 48, of Irvine, California, has a goal. He is in the process of wearing a bow tie every day for a year. He is scheduled to finish his mission on November, 1, 2012. Why bow ties, you ask? Simple…he’s protesting the uber-casual SoCal look.
“People around here show up at weddings and funerals in shorts,” states Blumberg. “I want to be formal, but have a little fun. I want to be different. I want to be interesting.”
Blumberg only wears old-fashioned bow ties — the ones that require tying — no clip-ons. He can tie a bow tie without a mirror in about 15 seconds.
Blumberg tracks his goal and markets a men’s neckwear company on his blog, “365 Days of Bow Ties.”
