Boy Sells Lemonade to Raise Money for Detroit

A 9-year-old boy in Detroit has decided to help raise money for his floundering city. Joshua Smith is selling popcorn and lemonade in front of his home. His goal? To raise at least $1,000 to donate to the city. Maybe he could sell dance gifts wholesale, too.

The boy heard a radio report about Detroit struggling to avoid bankruptcy. He decided that wanted to do something about it.

Detroit has been fighting bankruptcy for over a year. In response, the city has had to cut city services that include parks and recreation, fire and rescue, and education.
