Grapefruit Juice Shown Boosts Drug’s Anti-Cancer Properties

Sirolimus is a drug usually used by transplant patients to prevent rejection. Although it’s not currently used to treat cancer, it has anti-cancer properties. With a boost, the drug could become an option for cancer patients…simply by adding some grapefruit juice.

A new study discovered that patients taking sirolimus receive more of its anti-cancer benefits when they drink a glass of grapefruit juice every day with the drug. This combination is so effective that patients consuming grapefruit juice received three times more benefits than those who used the drug alone.
