A father-son team rescued dozens of lives in their small Louisiana town after grabbing neighbors and their pets from flooded homes.
Jesse Shaffer, 25, and father, 53, also Jesse Shaffer, rescued over 120 people using their fishing boat on the flooded avenues of Braithwaite, Louisiana. The town’s levee was topped on Wednesday after Isaac rushed in to land with winds of about 80 mph on Tuesday night. Approximately 730,000 people are left without power. The storm also coincided with the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
A tow truck driver was killed after a tree fell on his vehicle during heavy rain and strong winds. His name has not been released.
