Last night, David delivered his presentation. I’m happy to say that he passed with flying colors and those graduation invitations that I just sent out a few days ago will not be wasted!

I was very impressed with the invitations that we ordered. In fact, they reminded me of wedding invitations, they were so nice and classy! We had a tri-fold invitation, engraved with his full name and all the details of his school. We also had inner and outer enveloped with seals for sealing the envelopes. We even had transparent address labels with his entire name printed on them.

All-in-all, very classy.

Now, to make the party as nice as the invitations! That will be a challenge. I haven’t quite determined my menu yet. I will have lots of decorations that I saved from his older brother’s graduation party, so maybe I can cut some corners by reusing those decorations. Have you thrown a party lately? It’s unbelievably expensive!

Anyway, I definitely recommend getting engraved invitations with your child’s name and school information. It really sets the stage for a perfect graduation and a stellar party. Your child is worth it, right? You only graduate from high school once! Then it’s on to the real world. In David’s case, this will mean entering the Marine Corps.

As it often happens, the kitties aged and one began to fade faster than the other. Last July, they sent Java to the rainbow bridge and Jazz was forced to face life without his brother.

Jazz did not adjust well to Java’s absence, and he began yowling almost constantly throughout the day. Little by little, Jazz also began to fade. This last weekend, my parents were forced to say goodbye to Jazz as well.

Now the house is quiet and my parents are wondering if and when they will want to replace the kitty brothers.

How’s this for weird…I am actually sad to see his drums go! After all the headaches and noise, I will miss David’s racket.

I first started being concerned about my son’s hearing when my friend mentioned to me once when she was over about how loud he kept the volume when he was watching DIRECT TV. It had never occurred to me that it was loud. I mean, I guess I knew it was loud, but I had just gotten used to it, and kinda assumed it was just a kid thing or something. After that, I started noticing little things here and there, like how when we were riding in the car at night and it was dark, he always wanted me to turn on the light while I talked so he could see my lips. Then I started realizing that his speech sounds weren’t really coming in as you would expect, especially the higher frequency sounds, like “s.” I mentioned it to his pediatrician at our appointment, and he ordered a hearing exam at the ENT doctor. We went and it turns out that he has a ton of fluid in his ears, and needs tubes.

I think we’ve all seen those stanchions that hold the velvet rope or belts to keep people where you want them and out of areas that are off limits.
